FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything people ask us most about Lumo Wallet, security, compliance and how it all works.

Is Lumo Wallet custodial or non-custodial?
Your crypto in Lumo Wallet is 100% non-custodial. You keep full ownership of your private keys and crypto at all times. Lumo never stores your recovery phrase and has no access to your funds. Lumo Card Checkout for businesses is the exception: it is custodial, with card funds held by a regulated payments partner until paid out.
Can Lumo Wallet access or recover my funds?
No. Because Lumo is non-custodial, your recovery phrase and private keys are generated and stored locally on your device. Lumo cannot access your wallet, freeze your account, or recover funds if your backup phrase is lost. Always store your recovery phrase securely offline.
Is Lumo Wallet secure?
Yes. Lumo Wallet has been independently audited by Cyberscope with a 100% score. Keys are encrypted on your device with AES-256 and protected by your passcode or biometrics, and transactions are signed on your device, so your private keys never leave it. You can also use a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet.
What does it cost to use?
Swaps are 0.4% plus the network fee, whatever the provider. Buying and selling start from 1.0%, depending on the provider. Sending and receiving are free apart from the network fee. For businesses, Lumo Crypto Checkout has no monthly fee and 0% processing, with 1.5% plus the network fee when you withdraw.
How do Lumo cards work?
There are two cards. The Lumo Basic card, issued with Wirex, has no fee to open. The Lumo Pro card, issued with Interlace, has a one-time issuance fee of $3.99. Your card spends the available assets in your wallet by default, with manual top-up if you prefer. Spend where cards are accepted, with Apple Pay and Google Pay where supported. Card services are provided by licensed partners.
How do crypto purchases and withdrawals work?
You can buy crypto using supported payment methods and sell crypto back to fiat inside the Lumo app where available. These services come from licensed providers such as MoonPay, Guardarian, Onramp.money and BTC Direct, who send purchased crypto straight to your own wallet address.
Do I need to complete identity verification?
Core wallet software features such as creating a wallet and storing assets are designed for self-custody. Fiat on/off-ramps, card services, and other regulated services are subject to compliance checks, identity verification, and business verification where required by licensed partners.
Can my business accept crypto payments?
Yes. Lumo Business (Crypto Checkout, Card Checkout and Invoicing) lets you accept crypto and card payments online, with 13 plugins and SDKs. Apply in the app: most businesses are approved within 24 working hours, and Card Checkout within 48. Lumo POS pre-orders open January 2027.
Which countries and languages are supported?
The app is available in 10 languages. Card availability depends on where you live: see the Basic card and Pro card country lists. Buying, selling and other partner services also vary by country.
Does Lumo Wallet provide banking services?
No. Lumo Wallet is a non-custodial software application provider and is not a bank. Card issuing, fiat conversion, and banking-related services are provided by licensed and regulated third-party financial institution partners.
How does Lumo Wallet ensure compliance?
Lumo integrates with licensed payment processors, card providers, and KYC/AML screening partners that hold regulatory credentials. This helps ensure card loads, withdrawals, and banking interfaces operate in line with applicable regional requirements.
Where is Lumo Wallet registered?
Lumo Wallet LLC is incorporated and registered in Wyoming, United States.
Who can I contact for support?
Message the Lumo support team on WhatsApp for help with anything not covered here. Businesses can book an onboarding call from the Lumo Business page. You can also follow our Telegram and Discord communities for announcements.
